Welcome to our Mountain Retreat

Our 2 bedroom house on 10 acres in Pinehurst, California features sweeping daytime views of the western Sierra Nevada and unobstructed dark night skies. The house floor plan is best suited for two couples or one couple + a family with 1 or 2 children. Available for overnight accomodations, ideal for:

-- Tourists on a leisurely schedule who want the convenience of a hotel but with the privacy and seclusion a standard hotel room can never provide, along with full kitchen and laundry facilities and all the outdoor space you could ever desire.

Lookout Peak Redwood Mountain

-- Couples, groups of couples, or families who love outdoor recreation in the Sierra at any time of year looking for a mountain vacation in comfort.

-- Organized groups (up to 15) who want a location for outdoor workshops, seminars, or retreats where some of the participants don't mind camping out on the grounds or staying in other nearby accomodations (the practical maximum number people this house sleeps is 8).

About Us

Dan and Cindy Duriscoe

Cindy and Dan Duriscoe, the owners of the property, want your stay to be as enjoyable as possible. We are former employees of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and we want to share our knowledge with you. We purchased the property in 1997 and lived here almost 10 years. We know the land, and we did most of the work on the property ourselves. We are constantly making improvements as time allows, and we welcome suggestions. Do not hestitate to inquire about the parks, the monument, and other attractions in the area, and check out the Area Information link above. We know that this piece of land offers something special at all seasons (Dan's favorite is actually winter).

We have watched the land and sky from here, and the peacefulness of the location is unmatched. This part of California is known for its mild climate, calm winds and stable air most of the time (which makes for wonderful observations of the night sky through a telescope), fall colors of the black oaks (some seasons are more intense than others), and the elevational gradient that allows quick access to a variety of life zones. We think this location is ideally located for access to the high country and foothills, and gives a taste of both.
